Prince Simphiwe Zulu and Prince Vanana Zulu, members of King Misuzulu kaZwlithini’s inner circle, were travelling from Pretoria to KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday evening when the incident occurred. According to the spokesperson, Prince Africa Zulu, the princes are not in “critical” condition and only sustained “minor” injuries. Currently, the Zulu royal family is embroiled in a legal dispute over King Misuzulu’s claim to the throne. Half-brother Simakade wants the court to overturn President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recognition of King Misuzulu as the rightful heir. A previous attempt by him to stop the coronation of King Misuzulu failed. In Kwa-Zulu Natal, 30% of the land is owned by the Zulu royal family, which receives a household allowance of almost 80 million rand ($4.2m; £3.4m).
