Walgreens Boots Alliance names Tim Wentworth new CEO
Tim Wentworth has been appointed as the new CEO of Walgreens Boots Alliance, the company announced Tuesday.
In addition to taking over the position on October 23, Wentworth will join WBA’s board of directors.
“I am excited and honored to lead WBA’s next phase of development, working with the Board and WBA leadership to deliver sustainable value and results,” Wentworth said in the release. With WBA’s differentiated model, healthcare delivery can be evolved based on the company’s pharmacy strength and trusted brand.”
In the past, Wentworth held the CEO position at Express Scripts and, most recently, at Evernorth, a subsidiary of Cigna.
Pessina, WBA’s executive chairman, said that Wentworth is “an accomplished and respected leader with profound expertise in payer and pharmacy space, as well as supply chain, IT and Human Resources.”. WBA is confident he will lead its next phase of growth into a customer-centric healthcare company.
Rosalind Brewer, who had served as WBA CEO for three years, stepped down in September.
Also, Brewer resigned from the company’s board of directors immediately.
Ginger Graham, a member of Walgreens’ board, has been named interim CEO.
