In Objection (Tango), the Colombian star danced with knives, writhed in a fake cave, and played a fiery guitar solo.

Shakira’s award was presented by Wyclef Jean, who said: “Latin music would not be the global force it is today without her.”

Taylor Swift won nine Moon Man trophies on the night. In recognition of the self-directed promo for Anti-Hero, the star won in all but two of the categories in which she was nominated.

After previously winning for Bad Blood, You Need to Calm Down, and All Too Well: The Short Film, she extends her record for the most wins in that category to four.

Her wins were dedicated to the art of songwriting.

In front of a star-studded crowd at New Jersey’s Prudential Center, she said, “I love making pop music, I love making pop music videos, and I also love making country music.”

It’s only because of you, the fans, that I am able to slink around different genres.”

‘NSync, who reunited to present her with the best pop trophy, also had words of encouragement.

She laughed as she addressed the quintet, “I had your dolls!”
