New Zealand’s Dalton Papali’i says it must “give it hell” to defeat South Africa and their ‘Bomb Squad’ of replacements.

In their semi-final against England, the Springboks’ bench – we call them the Bomb Squad – helped turn the tide and beat the English 16-15.

The All Blacks, says Papali’i, have their own “Easy Company” despite the reputation of the South African bench.

As far as the Bomb Squad is concerned, they have proven themselves,” said Papali’i.

“They can come on and change the game like that. Whoever is on the bench for New Zealand, really screw them on up top.”

During the knockout stage wins over Ireland and Argentina, Papali’i replaced All Blacks skipper Sam Cane.

As part of his team, he is watching the television series Band of Brothers, which is based on the activities of the US Army’s ‘Easy Company’ during World War II.

Papali’i said, “You know they’ve got the Bomb Squad, so we can have ‘Easy Company’.”

We want to finish the job and be in the trenches.”
