A recall of more than 70 million rolling candy units has been issued by two companies because of choking hazards, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Cocco Candy and KGR Distribution are recalling 145,800 units of Cocco Candy Rolling Candy. Candy Dynamics is recalling 70 million “Slime Licker Sour Rolling Liquid Candy.”

Often sour in flavor, rolling candies consist of a small ball that can be rolled directly on the tongue by the consumer.

Cocco Candy rolling balls dislodged and became stuck in the throat of a 7-year-old girl in New York in April 2023, resulting in her death.

Consumers should stop using the Cocco Candy immediately, according to the CPSC. Sour Strawberry, Sour Tutti Frutti, and Sour Cola are affected flavors and come in two fluid ounce containers. During the period of May 2022 to March 2023, the candy was sold in stores and online for around $2.50.

As part of the recall, Candy Dynamics is recalling 70 million two-ounce to three-ounce roller candies in the flavors Blue Razz, Strawberry, Sour Apple, and Black Cherry. Printed on the front are the labels “TOXIC WASTE” and “SLIME LICKER Sour Rolling Liquid Candy” or “MEGA TOXIC WASTE” and “SLIME LICKER Sour Rolling Liquid Candy.”

In the period from June 2015 to July 2023, Walmart, Five Below, Amazon, and other online stores sold these candies for between $2 and $4.
