As part of a UK rescue effort to find survivors of the earthquake in Morocco, Lincolnshire firefighters have said that they will stay there for as long as necessary.

It is estimated that more than 2,900 people lost their lives in last Friday’s tremor – the country’s deadliest in 60 years.

Earlier this week, four firefighters and a rescue dog joined the UK International Search and Rescue Team (UKISAR).

According to Karl Keuneke, a firefighter usually based at Lincoln South, survivors are still being found.

In addition to Mr Keuneke, Darren Burchnall, Ben Clarke, Neil Woodmansey, and Colin, the Lincolnshire team includes Darren Burchnall, Ben Clarke, and Neil Woodmansey.

Among the 60 firefighters on UKISAR, which has treated injured people and searched for survivors trapped under collapsed buildings, are firefighters from 14 UK fire services.

In the High Atlas Mountains 71km (44 miles) from Marrakesh, the epicenter of the tremor was located, and many remote villages and towns were affected.

According to Keuneke, the team was based at the foot of the mountains and had to travel several hours to reach people trapped in the mountains.

Survivors have been found by rescue teams, so people still have a chance to be found.”
