But amid talk of raising the warming target from 1.5C to 2C, John Kerry, the US special presidential envoy for climate and former Secretary of State, told Newsnight the US would walk away from any proposal which included this.

Furthermore, it's less than four months since the speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan, a visit not endorsed by her President.

It put a depth charge into US-China relations and led to the biggest ever Chinese live fire military exercises in the Straits of Taiwan.

Unkleji, Kingdoms rise and Kingdoms fall, this is known throughout history. “If you do the right things” and moral and correct with conscious awareness then, yes, life can be much better as opposed to suffering, and there can be good trade and prosperity for everyone instead of excess greed in the hands of the few. It is Govs’ decision, so please chose wisely now, for the future, for the benefit of the people, and that so many souls do not suffer needlessly due to your ignorant policy. I hope you are by God in your decision making, like some political beings that take the word of Divinity. I wish you well for the correct conscious decision-making for the welfare of the people.

    M Magnificat says:

If I’m not mistaken, they use historical data for that. China wasn’t industrialized by US and European investment until recently.

    WM A2 says:

It’s not like those developing counties didn’t benefit from the industrial age and all that follows. So to make it one sided in terms of blame is hypocrisy. The rich countries should help other nations with their sustainability but to call it reparations is just not going to fly. In fact, Russia has single handedly set the world climate agenda on its back foot and the developing countries, like India, should be asking Russia for reparations not buying fossil fuels at an alarming rate. The interviewer seems to come from the activist wing of journalism (an oxymoron if there ever is one). Why is the interviewer harping on US defending itself from the underhanded and unethical business dealings of the PRC? The UK is Londongrad, probably also Beijinggrad too.
