US President Joe Biden has secured a deal with Egypt to deliver limited aid to Gaza to ease a humanitarian crisis amid the Israel-Hamas war.

According to Mr. Biden, Israel has a right to retaliate for the Hamas attack that sparked the conflict.

President Obama said that Israel had been “badly victimized”, though he cautioned against becoming “consumed” by rage.

Additionally, he backed Israel’s claim that an air strike did not cause a blast at a Gaza hospital on Tuesday.

According to Palestinian officials, Israel is responsible for the explosion at Gaza’s Al-Ahli Arab Hospital that killed 471 people. There has been a further escalation of tensions across the region as a result of the incident.

Mr Biden supported the Israeli claim that the deadly blast appeared to have been caused by a misfired Palestinian rocket during a trip to Tel Aviv on Wednesday that lasted fewer than eight hours.

As a result of the explosion, the American president expressed his “deep sadness and outrage.”

Israel has blamed Islamic Jihad, another militant group operating in Gaza. There was no evidence that Islamic Jihad was involved in the blast.

It has also been disputed by Israel that Palestinians reported the death toll. On social media platform X, Lior Haiat, a spokesman for the foreign ministry, said “several dozen people” had been killed.

Biden discussed Gaza aid with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi while on his flight home.

In an interview with journalists, Mr Biden said that Mr Sisi had agreed to open the Rafah crossing to allow about 20 lorries carrying humanitarian aid into Gaza.

In a statement, Egypt confirmed its president and Mr Biden had agreed to provide Gaza with aid “in a sustainable way.”.

White House spokesman John Kirby said the border crossing would open after road repairs are completed, but Mr Biden did not give a timeframe.
