Modi said India would “leave no stone unturned” in efforts to secure the showpiece at the opening ceremony of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Mumbai.

Delhi has never hosted the Olympics, but it hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2010.

According to Modi, hosting the Games is an “age-old dream” for the country.

I am confident that India will receive the support of the IOC in order to realize this dream.” he said to the committee. India will also consider hosting the Youth Olympics in 2029, Modi said.

“Sport is not just about winning medals, but also about winning hearts,” he said.

In September, Poland’s president Andrzej Duda said his country would also be interested in hosting the 2036 Olympics.

Summer or winter, Poland has never hosted an Olympic Games.

In 2024, Paris will host the Olympics, followed by Los Angeles in 2028 and Brisbane in 2032.
