    Scoville says:

21st century slang term “woke”; anybody got a clear definition?

    atrution says:

@Jorge Ituarte for the third time, quit trying to deviate to other places, this is about United States socio-political issues.

You start by claiming systemic racism is untrue based on, a ratio of black americans and one president.

First off institutional racism, is not a lack of representation, which also exists. It is about how policy and law is made often with intent to have a greater impact on minorities.

Now on your demographic breakdown, first important note, not just black americans suffer from institutional racism. So not just that 12% black,, but the 19% latino, the 6% asian, the 1% american indian.

You want to use Obama the single not white president example of minority representation? Why are all the other presidents white? That is nowhere near an demographic breakdown of the country? Where are the women presidents?

Not to mention the huge growth of racist movements in response to Obama’s term which lead to a racist being elected next.

I understand you have probably never encountered discrimination, so you don’t see “evidence”, and continue to ignore the voices of people who do. You won’t get to see everything in person, that does not mean it does not exist.

    Faraz Muzaffari says:

Haha these replies . Any political notions attached to whatever woke is is wrong , can’t we just say justice and true adherence to umm apparently “self evident truths” is a good thing.?

    Scoville says:

@atrution Yea, I think I’m mostly with you on my personal (still fuzzy) definition, but this back and forth is kinda what I was expecting i.e. we can’t even come close to an agreement on that word (like “troll”…at first it had a definite meaning, but now people seem to use it as just a general insult??).
The internet is having some strange and interesting effects on language.

Thanks to everyone out there for giving your thoughts😉

    Scoville says:

@Faraz Muzaffari totally. The only problem is we are humans––as you know, we will ALWAYS find ways to disagree with each other, no matter how obviously true or untrue the subject matter is.
Our big brains are (generally speaking) outmatched & overpowered by our fragile emotions, in my opinion.

    ResCyn says:

@atrution You’re so ridiculously wrong it’s actually funny.

    – Critical Theory (and Consciousness) comes from the Frankfurt school, where Cultural/Neo-Marxism came about, and was led by Marcuse. Angela Davis (quoted by Crenshaw and everyone else in CRT) was his PHD student and said he radicalised her for the second and most perfect time.

    – Marxism – You’re talking about vulgar Marxism, Critical Theory is way beyond that and saw it as failure of the working class. Whiteness = Property now, do catch up

    – CRT – Racism is ordinary and permanent, interest convergence theory, anti-racism as praxis, intersectionality and about 6 other tenets you clearly have no idea about. Of the night when the first batch of legal activists got together and actually named CRT… they wrote of the place, as it was very well appointed, ‘what an odd place for a group of Marxists to meet.’

You’re talking to someone who actually does know the topic.

EDIT: Both our posts are shadowbanned for even mentioning these words if you haven’t noticed.

    Casper says:

@Jorge Ituarte never heard of smalahove.

    Kevin B says:

@Casper Well sometimes it’s more about the things the republicans don’t do – like advocating for the mutilation and sexualisation of children.

    Matthew Fernandez says:

    @Jorge Ituarte 🤡

    Matthew Fernandez says:

@Jorge Ituarte Did California ever fall? I’m not sure if you know, but California’s GDP is the fifth largest in the world, neck-and-neck with Germany for fourth place. Does that sound like a state that needs to “rise”?… Florida on the other hand…

    Pierre In says:

@Matthew Fernandez Don’t quote them numbers, it confuses them. Keep it simple.

    C Churchy says:

I thought I would see something on here, like he was a Navy SEAL, graduated from Yale and Harvard with honors, and fought for term limits while serving in Congress. I guess that’ll be on the “Five things you didn’t know about Florida governor Ron DeSantis.”

    Kevin B says:

@Pierre In Trump’s background is primarily as a real estate businessman. Cheating on his wife? Who cares? Humans do this a lot. Most marriages fail. I never said the past dictates everything, but it obviously carries some importance unless you’re incredibly gullible. That applies to everyday life too, not just politics.

    Whatever Name says:

Ron DeSantis is exactly what happens when a country puts economic growth over quality education for everyone. Ignorance will be America’s downfall…

My guess is that Pence is ticked off about two things. One is what DT did to him and two is that nobody is mentioning his name for 2024. He will blame DT for killing his career and will do his best to return the favor. I will make popcorn.

    Alexander Angelo says:

    So will I

    Awesome Aasim says:

Very informative. I don’t think Biden may stand a chance against DeSantis, which is why if Democrats want to stay in power they will need to find a new candidate.

    Earth Ball says:

He will. Trump will run 3rd party as a independent or As a other party. He is a manbaby who throws tantrums so yeah.

    Milhouse says:

That’s what they said about Biden when he was running against Trump 😂

    Sam Hatts says:

@Milhouse did they? Who tf is they? This they you speak of probably thought they could run literally anyone against trump and win cause of his reputation

    Milhouse says:

    @Sam Hatts MAGA cultists

    Sam Hatts says:

@Milhouse ahhh so no reasonable people lmao that’s why I didn’t think of they

    G J says:

I urge anyone reading this to revisit DeSantis’s record and sessions in Congress — and his interviews at Embry Riddle University. The guy is brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

    Kevin B says:

That was one evn the dems couldn’t overturn with weeks long voting and stuffed ballots.

    Gdk says:

Ron, spent $72 million on campaign, and the democrat who lost spent $22 million. The independent who took third place, spent just $5,500. I truly believe this so called two party system is garbage. Have a nice day to everyone.

    Susan Sharp says:

Correction. Ron donation from rich donors in august was 172 million and Crist 72 million
