An Instagram post shared by the 32-year-old singer-songwriter on Sunday shed more light on the last-minute cancellation of his concert at Allegiant Stadium.

We tried our best to make the show happen, but I wouldn’t risk my fans’ safety for anything,” Sheeran wrote. The cancellation was very much out of my control, but I do take full responsibility for all those affected by it. There is a rescheduled show for October 28th if people still want to attend. I promise it will be a special show. Refunds will be available at point of purchase.

“I apologize for not communicating this to the people waiting outside sooner, but nothing will take away the effort people went through to get to Vegas. Despite our best efforts, we just couldn’t bring the show to a close due to safety concerns. Again, we apologize to everyone affected, and hope to see you in October.”

Before soundcheck, Sheeran’s crew discovered problems with the flooring at Allegiant Stadium.
