‘Different but great’ – NI youngster who left Everton
It can be tricky for a young player to flee any Premier League nest, but Isaac Price is thriving after leaving Everton – the club he joined at the age of seven.
Price joined Standard Liege in the summer window after 13 years at Goodison Park, and he is enjoying his new life in Belgium.
A 90th-minute goal against Club Brugge endeared the 20-year-old to his new supporters in his first proper start in senior football.
That goal came after he scored his first international goal against Slovenia in September. The goals Price scored for club and country after making his debut in March marked Price’s development as he stepped into the first team.
According to Price, life in Belgium is very different from what he was used to in England.
Having to prepare my own food and live on my own is something I have to get used to.
As for the football, it’s great. It’s very different from England in terms of the style of play, but I’ve adapted well.
“I’m enjoying my time at this great club with great fans.”
Prices “definitely” believes going to Belgium was the right decision – as it was when he chose Northern Ireland over his native England, who he also represented at the youth level.
Since I wasn’t getting much first-team opportunities at Everton, I feel like this was the right move for me,” he said.
