A boat capsized in the Congo River in the Democratic Republic of Congo, killing at least 30 people.

As search and rescue efforts continue, there are fears that the number of casualties could rise.

As a result of the boat accident on Friday near Mbandaka in the north-west, over 160 people remain missing.

According to reports, the boat, which was sailing at night in violation of regulations, might have been overloaded.

The plane carried more than 300 people as well as cement, fuel, and iron bars, according to officials.

DR Congo lacks a national road network, so river transport is common, and accidents are common.
