Winger Mark Telea is back in the New Zealand side for the All Blacks’ Rugby World Cup semi-final against Argentina.

After violating team protocol, the 26-year-old was dropped for the quarter-final victory over Ireland.

Two changes have been made to Ian Foster’s starting XV for Friday’s semi-final, with Sam Whitelock replacing Brodie Retallick in the second row.

The Argentines make one change for their game in Paris, with Gonzalo Bertranou replacing Tomas Cubelli at scrum-half.

Twelve players from New Zealand’s 2019 semi-final defeat to England in Japan are included in the matchday squad.

Leicester Fainga’anuku, who scored one of New Zealand’s three tries against Ireland, is replaced by Telea, who crossed twice in the opener against France.

We think that’s the best team for this week,” Foster said. “He’s done his time. He made a mistake and accepted what happened, but you shouldn’t stay there.”

“We put our faith in him and think he has a good chance of succeeding.”

The Pumas remain with seven players from the 2015 semi-finalist side, including captain Julian Montoya and replacement fly-half Nicolas Sanchez, who scored a late interception try against Wales in the quarterfinals.

On Saturday, 28 October, either England or South Africa will play the winner of the first semi-final at the Stade de France.
