During this year’s Vitality Blast, he spent time on loan at Derbyshire while Brooke Guest was out with a hamstring injury, before returning to Hampshire to help them reach the finals.

The Derbyshire head of cricket Mickey Arthur said, “Aneurin impressed us during his time with us this year and we were eager to bring him to the club.”.

“He’s a powerful batter, capable of taking a game away from you very quickly. He’ll also provide cover at wicketkeeper, which was an area we needed depth in.

As a member of Hampshire’s very good side, he has routinely won trophies.

It’s the type of player we want to bring to the club in order to improve.”

Donald began his career at Glamorgan and spent six years with Hampshire, making 64 appearances across all formats.

In first-class cricket, he has scored more than 3,000 runs at an average of 31.50, including three centuries.

At this point in my career, I must play cricket and contribute to success,” he said.

The reason I’ve come to Derbyshire is that I believe I can contribute to this project.

Although I had a few options at other counties, the level of coaching and the project at Derbyshire really caught my eye.”
