Amber Heard spoke of her character in her hotly released movie In The Fire as she revealed how challenging her “complex” role in the movie is.

A year after losing a libel case against her ex-husband Johnny Depp, the Aquaman star made her big-screen comeback with the small-budget movie.

She told Entertainment Tonight, “It’s in many ways a classic thriller or horror film, but it’s fresh and new in so many ways.”

In an interview with the publication, Heard said it was a “joy” and a “challenge” to be part of the movie, which also stars Eduardo Noriega, Lorenzo McGovern Zaini, Luca Calvani, and Yari Gugliucci.

Announcing her role as Grace Burnham, Heard said, “Grace is a pioneer of sorts, she is a doctor when no other woman held such a position at the time.”

As a result, she is thrust into a world that is not her own. Embraced by deep religious belief and superstition, this culture is extremely foreign to her.”

In spite of everything, she must believe in herself, even though everything around her is falling apart, she continued.

The actress revealed why she chose the role, which marked her return to the big screen after her bombshell trial with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor.

According to Heard, “I wanted to meet this man who was writing this complex, nuanced, strong female character set in more nuanced, complex interesting stories that I had never read or seen before.”

There’s a lot of energy, a lot of smoking and espresso, a lot of noise and fun, and a lot of vibrancy,” she said. She continued, “I’ve had a great time.”
