In the race for the White House, Donald Trump has confirmed that he will not take part in Republican presidential debates.

According to one recent poll, he has “legendary” numbers ahead of other contenders for the party’s nomination in 2024.

The public knows who I am and what a successful presidency I had,” Mr Trump, 77, wrote on social media.

On 23 August, there will be the first Republican presidential primary debate.

It is possible that the second debate will take place the following day. There will be at least two more debates in the coming months.

Iowans will vote in the Republican primary election on 15 January 2024, but there are likely to be more debates to narrow the field.

According to recent polls, Mr Trump, who is facing a number of criminal charges, is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination.

He wrote on his Truth Social platform on Sunday: “New CBS POLL, just out, shows me leading by “legendary” numbers.”

Other candidates, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, were far behind. Among US broadcasters’ polls, Mr Trump had 62% of the vote, far ahead of Mr DeSantis, who had 16%.

Public knows who I am & what a successful Presidency I had, with Energy Independence, Strong Borders, Strong Military, Biggest Tax & Regulation Cuts, No Inflation, Strongest Economy in History, & much more.

Therefore, I will not be participating in the debates.”

It has been repeatedly suggested that Mr Trump would not participate in Republican debates in recent months.

Polls showed he was leading other candidates by “seemingly insurmountable numbers,” and he complained that proposed moderators and venues might be hostile.

The latest developments have not been commented on by other Republican presidential candidates.

In 2024, as Trump runs for the White House again, he will have a series of trials to attend as the 45th president of the United States.

According to him, the charges against him are the result of a political witch hunt.

Upon conviction, Mr Trump could face substantial prison time.

Many experts believe that incarcerating a former president is unlikely due to logistics, security, and politics.
