Voters are going to the polls to elect new MPs in the constituencies of Mid Bedfordshire and Tamworth in England.

After the Conservative MPs stood down, by-elections will determine who replaces Nadine Dorries in Mid Bedfordshire and Chris Pincher in Tamworth.

The polls opened at 7:00 BST and close at 22:00, with results expected by Friday morning.

By-elections will require photo identification for voters in both seats.

After the resignation of Ms Dorries in August, a by-election was called in Mid Bedfordshire.

It was the first time the Tories had won the constituency since 1931 that the former culture secretary had a majority of 24,664.

As a result of Chris Pincher’s resignation in September, a byelection was called in Tamworth.

In 2019, the former Conservative deputy whip won the seat with a majority of more than 19,000 votes.

In Mid Bedfordshire, 13 candidates are on the ballot, while in Tamworth, nine are.
