On Tuesday, Liberians will vote in presidential and parliamentary elections.

The incumbent, former football star George Weah, is seeking a second term.

Former vice president Joseph Boakai and businessman Alexander Cummings are the two main challengers.

After disagreements over who should run for president, the coalition of opposition parties broke up.

There has been some progress in education and electricity supply during Mr Weah’s tenure, but critics say there has been widespread corruption.

During the rainy season, when large parts of Liberia’s network are cut off from the capital, he is pledging to build new roads.

After two previous unsuccessful attempts, Mr Weah came to power in 2017.
