After spending a decade with Glamorgan, the fast bowler played 22 first-class and T20 matches for Kent this season.

With the Welsh county, Hogan took 654 wickets across three formats, making him a huge fan favorite.

It was originally planned for the Australian to retire last season, but he reversed his decision to sign a one-year contract with Kent.

He ends his career with 695 first-class wickets at an average of 25.06 and 272 limited-overs wickets.

After working as a cricket ground staff member among other jobs, he made his professional debut for Western Australia at the age of 28.

Hogan was the leading wicket-taker in Australian domestic cricket over a five-year period without winning international recognition, but was recruited by Australian coach Matthew Mott to Glamorgan and played around the calendar for four years before concentrating exclusively on Glamorgan in the latter years.

In 2021, Hogan played a key role in Glamorgan’s One-Day Cup triumph after taking over as captain midway through 2017.

He announced his retirement from professional cricket on Wednesday on social media: “Today marks a bittersweet moment for me. I believe the time has officially come to hang up my boots and move on to the next chapter of my life after much reflection and thought over the last week. I soon realized there were a few people who needed me more than the game.

The game of cricket has taught me so much about myself over the last 15 years. It has taught me about discipline and perseverance, and provided some emotional highs and invaluable lessons both on and off the field.
