Angelina Jolie is making all-out efforts for the Piqui’s law as she signed a letter to California Gov. Gavin Newsom about the crucial legislation to fix the wrinkles in the family court system.

In the earnest appeal, the Mr & Ms Smith star said, “You will be aware that Piqui’s Law is named after a 5-year-old boy who suffered a tragic fate, killed by his father in April of 2017. In California family court, Piqui’s mother, Ana Estevez, unsuccessfully fought to get her child’s protection.”

“Over the past six years, Ana has worked with California legislators to ensure that authorities do not ignore or dismiss signs of abuse, which tragically cause harm and death to numerous children.”

Upon approval, the law would ensure the safety of the child within the family court system. A mandatory training program will be introduced for judges, mediators, and court professionals related to child abuse and domestic violence.

An insider told The Messenger that Angelina is motivated to advocate for judicial training and legal reforms based on her own experiences and years of meeting with experts and affected families like Ana’s.

It’s no surprise she’s taking on this issue. Their whole family is a victim of system failure. She has been fighting for her family privately and publicly for years.”

A bill must be approved or rejected by the Governor within 12 days of its enactment on Sept. 21.
