We’re back at it again. At the Cricket World Cup, South Africa. The stories have been one after another of regret.

Among the most disappointing and baffling records in sports are dropped bats, rain drops, poor math, and teams that were less than their sum.

Still, hope springs forth once again.

South African cricket has gained a sense of confidence after winning the final three games of a 3-2 series triumph over Australia.

Despite history’s warnings against getting carried away, it’s tantalizing to imagine that this time the Proteas can finally fulfill their destiny.

There’s no point in ignoring the fact that we haven’t won a World Cup.

However, I don’t live with those things on my shoulders. The past is the past. It doesn’t affect me at all. It’s about what’s in front of you…the next ball, your next moment.

I know the other guys are thinking the same way as me. This is a chance to create history. It’s a great opportunity. If we play well, we’ve got a great chance.

According to ICC metrics, South Africa are ranked fourth, but have five top-15 batters.

Aside from Miller, no other team has more than three members in this elite group, and he is confident that his teammates will succeed in India.

“Over the past four years, we have consistently performed well,” Miller says.
