Bangladesh were defeated by England by four wickets in the final match of England’s fifty-over World Cup preparations.

The batsman scored 56 off 39 balls, including six sixes, as England chased a revised target of 197 in Guwahati.

Bangladesh made 188-9 from their 37 overs, with rain causing a three-hour delay in the middle. Reece Topley took 3-23.

On Thursday, England will face New Zealand in their first World Cup match.

England started poorly after losing the toss and being asked to bowl, with Topley and Sam Curran struggling with their length.

When the rain came, Bangladesh recovered and England took regular wickets to leave them 153-5 off 30 overs.

David Willey (2-26) took two wickets in two balls after the resumption, and Topley and Curran (1-23) also took wickets.

Due to injuries, Mark Wood (1-9) and Adil Rashid (2-27) bowled for the first time since July and 8 September, respectively.

Despite losing Dawid Malan (four) early in the innings, England racked up 100-3 in 10 overs with Jonny Bairstow making 34 off 21 balls and Harry Brook making 17 off 15.

Before Moeen attacked the short ball and spinners, Buttler added 30 and Liam Livingstone seven to propel England to victory.

With four required to win, he fell, but Joe Root, who made a patient 26 off 40, and Chris Woakes took them home.

Sky Sports quoted Moeen as saying, “It was very valuable.”.

Our first warm-up against India was rained off, but it was important for the bowlers to bowl, us to spend time on the field, and some batters to get some time in the middle in these conditions. It is very valuable before the World Cup.”
