“I want my husband by my side, not a historical figure,” she said.

Her family also misses spending time together.

The two of us are strong, both emotionally and physically. I’m sure we will handle it together.”

After Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Olena Zelenska and her children spent months hiding in secret locations.

At the beginning of the invasion, she described her emotional state as “a constant feeling of adrenaline.”. She found it “necessary” to calm herself and adapt to the situation.

Former scriptwriter has given speeches and met leaders around the world since emerging from hiding last year.

The family is separated, Olena Zelenska “We see each other occasionally, but not as often as we would like. My son misses his father.”

In spite of that, she said, her children have suffered emotional costs as a result of living in war.

“It pains me to see that my children don’t plan anything. At such an early age, young people. My daughter is 19. They dream of travelling, of new sensations, of emotions.

“Time has limitations in what you can allow yourself, and we try to live within them.”

A high school sweetheart and Ukraine’s president worked together in a comedy troupe and TV studio – he as an actor and she as a scriptwriter.

According to her, she never dreamed that her husband would become the “historical figure” he is today, and she misses him and needs him by her side.

The president, Olena Zelenska said, “really does have the energy, will, inspiration, and stubbornness to go through this war,” despite what she called a “selfish” desire.

My belief in him is that he has enough strength. It would be much harder for any other person I know to handle this situation. He is a very strong and resilient person, and we all need this.
